Sunday Service: Saving Jesus Exploration

10:30 - 11:30

Join us this Sunday @ 10:30 a.m for worship. Come a little bit early for coffee or stay a wee bit later for some of the same.

“Ever feel like Jesus has been kidnapped by the Christian Right?”

Some of us, who answered ‘yes’ attended the first 6 weeks of a 12-week study called ‘SAVING JESUS’, a DVD-based small group exploration of Jesus the Christ for the 3rd millennium, in the Fall. Weeks 7-12 will be offered this year, as our Lenten Study, beginning Thursday, February 23. We will meet again on Thursday mornings from 9:45-11:45 am. The format will be the same as in the Fall, with conversation, video segments and guided discussion time. The themes for the last 6 sessions are as follows:

  • Feb. 23: Jesus’ Program: The Kingdom of God;
  • Mar. 1: Jesus’ Ministry of Compassion;
  • Mar. 8: Killing Jesus, Part 1: Who Killed Jesus?
  • Mar. 15: Killing Jesus, Part 2: The Atonement;
  • Mar. 22: The Resurrection of Christ;
  • Mar. 29: Why Jesus is Worth Saving.

All are welcome! If you did not participate in the first 6, but are interested, please speak to Rev. Shelly or Dea. Richard—you are welcome too! As well, please see the Saving Jesus Feature here on UCiM’s website, where you will find a collection of video and the initial six reflections!
