The Pastoral Care Committee visits, phones or contacts members of our congregation who are shut-in, ill or those who just need a friendly call, usually about once a month.
During Easter, committee members deliver small plants to our congregants or adherents who are in hospital, care homes or those at home who are unable to attend church. In early December, the congregation donates homemade cookies and packages of cookies are delivered to those in need of remembrance. These are some of the ways we let folks know they are remembered even though they are not present at church services.
In October of 2014, the Pastoral Care Committee offered a workshop to our congregation and other United Churches throughout the city on How to be a Good Visitor. Nancy Nunn from River Park Gardens came out and helped to explain how to visit in a hospital or home care environment.
