Blessing of the Pets Sun., Oct. 3

We will be celebrating the Feast of St. Francis at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 with an outdoor blessing of the animals service. This ceremony helps us to recognize the value of all creatures and encourages us to have respect for the whole of creation.

St. Francis is the patron saint of animals; he had a special place in his heart for all animals, calling them his brothers and sisters. Participants can bring their four-legged family member (or pets that fly, swim or slither) to a brief, all ages event held to acknowledge all the ways that pets contribute to the health and well-being of our homes. There is no doubt that beloved pets are a blessing to their humans. This is an opportunity for furry friends to receive a blessing in return! If the pet is anxious or shy a photo can be blessed instead.

After all pets have been honoured, their family members may partake of hot chocolate and a cookie or two. RSVP would be much appreciated (ucm@ucim.org)

Masks are mandatory. In the event of heavy rain the service will be moved inside. Entry into the building requires full vaccination.

And the People Said

I loved providing parents with a night off from cooking and cleaning and just enjoying time with their families and reconnecting.
