Make sure to register by Monday, January 15th, and we’ll deliver a Messy Church kit right to your doorstep!
If you lost something valuable to you, how far would you go to find it again? Sometimes people get lost in their lives. They lose contact with those they love. They lose contact with what is good in life. Often, they find their way back, and God celebrates. Jesus wants us to realize that God never loses hope and always rejoices when we find our way back to God!
Here’s what you can expect from our “Lost and Found” Zooming into Messy Church:
- Event Details: Friday, January 19th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. (Zoom doors open at 5:50 for a Meet and Greet.)
- The Parable of the Lost Coin: What happens when a woman realizes one of her silver coins is missing?? Join us to find out!
- Lost Coin Headband – Craft: Some women in Jesus’ time wore a headband with coins sewn into it to keep them safe. We’re going to create our own coin headbands, and decorate the coins with images of things and people we value that we wouldn’t want to lose!
- Chocolate Coin Minute-to-Win it Games,
- Lava Lamp – Science Experiment: The woman in Jesus’ parable used an oil lamp to help find her lost coin. We’ll create our own lamps using oil, water and Alka-Seltzer tablets!
- Please note: you’ll need vegetable oil, an empty water bottle, and food coloring. We’ll provide the Alka-Seltzer tablets!
- Edible Broomstick Snack: In the parable, the woman swept her floor to help find the lost coin. We’ll make our tasty broomsticks with pretzels, string cheese and licorice!
- Coin-themed Kahoot: Test your trivia skills with a Coin-themed Kahoot!
- Messy Church Gives Back to Keep Others Warm: January is a very cold month in Winnipeg, and unfortunately there are many people in need of shelter. To help keep them warm, we’re asking everyone to fill their Messy Church kits with new or gently used mittens, tuques or socks before returning the boxes to church. We’ll donate these items to West Broadway to distribute to people in need.
