International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

Help us celebrate gender and sexual diversity and say no to Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia! May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia and though we can’t be together to mark the day in person, we can still remember on May 17 and every day of the year that we can all stand up against injustice and work towards full inclusion for all people here at our church and throughout society and the world.

One of the easiest and most important things we can do is to learn more about issues relating to the LGBTQIA+ and Two Spirit community so you can be an ally and help educate others around you. Click the links below for some great resources from The United Church of Canada and other sources to learn more. Take some time on May 17 to think about how you can celebrate love and diversity in all of God’s children!

Celebrating Trans and Two Spirit Peoples in Communities of Faith

This is a great video from UCC Canada:

United In Learning hosted a webinar on Trans Chrisitan Faith Perspective in April. This is a longer video, but well worth watching!

“Two Spirit” – Injunuity is a great video explaining what it means to be Two Spirit

And this great resource for talking to kids bout Homophobia. There are many more great videos for kid on YouTube by Queer Kids Stuff.

And the People Said

I love being on the Outreach Committee at UCiM.  We have opportunities to go beyond our walls to reach out to the community.  And really, isn’t that what it is all about?
