March 18 UCiM Update

That blessing has more meaning than ever:  may you experience the generosity of God through your neighbours, be safe from harm, and find anxiety replaced by gratitude.

We are dealing with a significant and quickly changing health challenge that is causing significant trauma for individuals, families, businesses and economies.  Yet, amid the chaos and change we are experiencing people’s capacity to lead and serve, to act graciously and in concert for the common good, and to remember what is truly important.

Last night, March 17, 2020, the Council of the United Church in Meadowood (UCIM) met electronically to make several important decisions.  In the interest of slowing the transmission of Covid-19 virus and protecting vulnerable people, our facility is now closed.

  1. Gathering for worship is suspended up to, but not including Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, unless the Board determines an earlier or later date is preferable. So don’t come on Sunday.  How appropriate it is that during Lent we reflect on the cross and unwelcome suffering, and move toward that Easter moment where we learn it is God’s will that unimpaired life prevail absolutely.
  1. Your continued financial support is welcome, needed, and encouraged.  If you need an online link to do this, please go to This link takes you directly to the UCiM Page at Canada Helps

Friends, God continues to be good and so are most people.  Keep a safe distance but keep “in touch.”  Faith, hope, and love endure.

May you awaken to the mystery of being here,

and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.

May you have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.

May you receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.

May you respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path.

Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.

May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.

May anxiety never linger about you.

May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of the soul.

Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.

Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.

May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.

And the People Said

The ceremony was fantastic and we received a number of compliments on how nice everything was.
