Our Story
UCiM welcomes a diverse mix of families for worship and our community programs. There are just under 500 families who call UCiM home. Worship happens in our building and on line each week.
UCiM is more than a place of worship. We are a well used and vital community hub, hosting a large variety of community user groups, such as Embers, St. Vital Art Group, Meadowood Senior’s Club, Alzheimer’s Society, and school and community choirs just to name some. We provide support to many outreach projects, including 1JustCity and Teen Stop Jeunesse. We are advocates for affordable housing, acceptance of gender diversity, and are committed to a path of Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
We believe we are called to respond to the abundant grace of God by spreading the good news of Jesus to love our neighbour and seeking the welfare of all through acts of compassion, love and justice.
The United Church in Meadowood is a member of the United Church of Canada. You can learn more about the UCC and the wider church here.
We are an affirming congregation, the 100th congregation to join Affirm United; a proud partner of The United Church of Canada for the support of all gender identities and sexual orientations. You can learn more about Affirm United and their work here.
We reflect the spirit of the United Church using a balance of traditional and new creative methods. Music is an integral part of our regular worship, and we sing a mix of favourite and new songs, as well as occasionally incorporating new music styles or instruments, like our new Boomwhacker choir!
Communion is typically held on the first Sunday of every month with Baptisms held usually three or four times a year. Congregants are invited to be involved during worship as scripture readers, candle lighters, and during special services throughout the year.
