Tammy Bleue Covenanting Service

Sunday September 27, 6:30pm

Please come to formally recognize and bless UCiM’s new pastoral relationship with our new minister, Tammy Bleue (DM)

Tammy Bleue

What is a Covenanting Service?

A covenanting service in The United Church of Canada is a formal worship service that celebrates a new pastoral relationship between a minister, a local community of faith (congregation), and the regional council. It marks a mutual commitment made by the minister, the congregation, and the wider church (regional council) to walk and work together in faith. The service outlines the duties and promises of both the newly appointed leader and the community of faith.

Though Tammy Bleue has already started her ministry with us at The United Church in Meadowood, the covenanting ritual will formally recognize and bless the ministry partnership.

Please come to show your support of this new chapter in UCiM’s journey of faith and commitment.   Light refreshments will be served after the service.

Key Elements of the Service

  • Liturgical Readings & Prayers: Focused on guidance, new beginnings, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • The Covenant Questions: Formal questions asked by a regional council representative where the minister promises to lead faithfully, and the congregation promises to support, respect, and work alongside the minister.
  • Symbols of Ministry: Often includes presentations or visual focal points representing the community, such as water, bread, regional symbols, or gifts.
  • Reception: A time of fellowship usually follows the service to welcome the minister and their family.
